Why Pediatric Dentistry?
Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of dentistry. A pediatric dentist has 2-3 years specialty training following dental school and limits his/her practice to treating children only.
Pediatric dentists are primary and specialty oral care providers for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health needs. Staff are specially trained to create a comforting and fun environment for children, all while delivering top notch dental care.
Meet Dr. Ida
I grew up in the Bay Area and completed my undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley with degrees in biology and music. Go Bears! I then attended the UCLA School of Dentistry where my love of teaching, public health, and working with children led me to find my passion for pediatric dentistry. Upon graduating from UCLA, I attended UCSF’s combined Pediatrics Residency and Master of Science program. I am an active member of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry and California Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
I speak Russian and English fluently, as well as conversational Spanish. In my free time I like to travel, bake, play board games, watch movies, and spend quality time with my family.
Meet Dr. Sam
I was born and raised in Burlingame, and my inspiration to become a pediatric dentist came from my own experience as a child — my grandfather was my pediatric dentist, and I always admired his care and dedication.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from San Jose State University, I attended ATSU Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, where I earned my DMD. I practiced general dentistry in Pittsburgh for two years before completing my pediatric residency at Oregon Health & Sciences University, where I served as chief resident. My career has brought me from Oregon to Pennsylvania to Arizona and finally back home to the Bay Area, where my husband and I are thrilled to be closer to family.
I’m a proud member of professional organizations like the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. When I’m not in the office, you’ll often find me cheering on my favorite teams — the 49ers, SF Giants, Warriors, and San Jose Sharks — or spending time with my husband, AJ, and our two kids. I also love yoga, hiking, cooking, and catching up with friends and family.
